Celebrating Thanksgiving Online

Kid-Friendly Recipes

From chocolate turkeys made from Reese's Cups to turkey drumsticks made from rice krispies- they're all fun and delicious. And sure to get your class in the mood for Thanksgiving. Here are some of our favorites.

Décor

These printables are a great way to add activity and decor to your online classroom. Printables are also a great activity to send to your students that can become a family activity for them. In the time of virtual learning, printables are key for adding something tactile to your students assignments. Coloring, cutting out leaves, hat making, etc. You can also check out our FREE printables below!

Check out our Scavenger Hunt.

Click here for our Thanksgiving inspired scavenger hunt. (It's free!) Scavenger hunts are a good way to get the kids moving after being behind a computer for most the day. To add even more fun, the students can record themselves finding each item (or presenting each item). The class can then watch everyone's videos as a look into life outside the virtual classroom.

Virtual Field Trips

Escape for a little! Even if just from behind the screen. Here are some virtual field trips to Plymouth, Massachusetts. Importantly, here are some Native American virtual field trips from the Smithsonian.

Telling Your Students How Much They Mean To You

During this pandemic, it would be a good time to let your students know that you (as their teacher) are thankful for them, too. My students are the reason I do my job. Sure, they don't turn the camera on always and I have to talk to a black screen mostly- but when I see a sliver of inspiration or change that I as their teacher have brought on, the feeling is indescribable. Also, students can feel lost and detached during this time of online learning. Telling them how important they are to you might make them feel much closer to you in a time of social distancing.
