1- Breathe
Take a step away from the desk and breathe. Open a window and breathe some fresh air. If you like aromatherapy you can try a diffuser with a eucalyptus scent to calm and uplift.
2- Sound Off
Once you are finished, sign out, and back away from the computer! When I first started teaching online about six years ago, I had one rule: One hour of silence after my workday.
3- Take A Walk
Put your sneakers on and take a stroll. This will not only help get your blood flowing, but it will also help signal an end to the work day. Taking a walk after you're done remote teaching allows you to walk away from the work day- and it can be a symbolic commute. After your walk you will be entering your home not your workspace.
4- Put The Technology Away
Allow your eyes to adjust after being on the screen for hours. Put the laptop, tablet, phone, and tv at bay. This will also help adjust your mindset from work time to relax time.
5- Stretch
Get up off your chair and step away from the desk! Do leg stretches, hand and finger stretches stretches (keyboard cramps are real!), neck and back stretches.
6- Keep In Touch With Friends
It's very easy to lose yourself while working from home- especially during this Covid pandemic. Reaching out to friends will help ground you and add some positive vibes back in your day. We love being teachers, and we love our students, but we also need to have adult interaction in our daily lives as well. The classroom is all about the students, but, your life outside the classroom is all about you.
